Dimitri Cavander
We built the online home for Dimitri Cavander, an accomplished San Francisco painter with decades of exhibition history, working from a visual identity he had already established. The site goes well beyond a typical artist portfolio, organized around two distinct collection bodies: a curated selection of current work available through his gallery, and a full archival record of his entire exhibition history spanning hundreds of pieces. Both share the same visual language, but the information architecture keeps them clearly separate in purpose, one for acquisition, one for reference.
A large migration of existing work into the new platform was central to the engagement. One feature grew directly out of conversations with dealers, an advanced filtering system built around painting size, letting collectors and gallerists narrow the collection to work that would actually fit a given space, alongside filters for subject, season, and availability. The platform runs on a LAMP stack with Twill CMS and an image CDN, keeping high resolution work loading fast at any screen size.
